This is where you find me exploring a variety of creative adventures mostly about but not limited to quilting. I'm a firm believer that one increases their creativity by being open to and playing with a variety of cretative endeavors ... at least that my excuse for today. Enjoy your sourjourn through my studio playroom. May you find encouragement and inspiration, and on occassion, a little pin-prick that may be thought-provoking or spark your imagination. Thank you for stopping by.

    NEW FABRICS HAVE ARRIVED

fabric shippmentThey're here! Way last Spring during International Quilt Market 2008 here in Portland I placed an order for a line of 1930's reproduction fabrics. I have quite a stash of 30's but can never resist adding to the stash. I know how hard I look to find 30's fabrics and usually find what I like online rather than in the local quilt shops. There is no halfway walking the fence when choosing to carry 30's fabrics in a quilt shop. If you're going to have them, you need to jump in with both feet. The fabrics don't fit on the color wall; they definitely won't fit in with the taupes or beautiful Asian fabrics; and, for sure, individual 30's bolts wont fit with the style of Thimbleberries or contemporary 70's retro fabrics. So any shop carrying 30's makes a hefty commitment and investment.

And so begins Kay's online fabric store carrying the FEEDSACK V c.1930 line from Windham Fabrics. I love the fact that browns, blacks and reds are included in the palette. I like the variety of scale in design in the line. I like the variety of several different prints in the line making it easy to complete a scrap quilt from one line. I have a Fat Quarter bundle available for purchase as well as yardage cut to the desired size.

I also have some suggestions for patterns using these great fabrics.
