A SHOUT OUT AND A FREEBIE

CHERLY'S FRUITS & VEGGIESHow many of you have fat packs of these fabrics languishing away in the back of a drawer somewhere? I know I sure do. It is such cute fabric but I could never think of a great pattern to show it to it full potential.

Let's give a big "Hooray! and "Well Done!" shout out to Cheryl. This pattern is perfect for these fabrics. Cheryl chose an all-over leafy vine  pattern for me to quilt on her quilt which was a good choice. With a top this busy the quilting will only show up as textural relief. The other thing to consider when choosing a pattern for this quilt ... the fabric is the "star" and the quilting should simply play a supporting role.

I used the King Tut bright varigated Joseph's Coat for the thread on the top and a Sigunature mossy green in the bobbin.

Cheryl will be using this quilt as a summer throw, so we chose a light weight batting ... Warm Bond from The Warm Company. Warm Bond is an 80/20 blend that has a super hand and yet washes up beautifully with just the right amount of shrinkage to give any quilt an aged vintage look.

And now ... for the freebie. This is a special request pattern from Page Johnson who just finished some great classes with many of you at MQX. If you've had her grid-play or borders class you'll know how she talks about using my pattern 1077 Touching Beads in some new and very innovative ways.

But sometimes Page needed a single bead. Now how simple is that? So we now have a single bead to go with the double touching beads. This bead is designed to be used with 1077 Touching Beads so you'll find compatible start/stop points and pattern height/width numbers. Don't you love it when such a simple addition to your pattern library pulls everything all together making the design process so much easier! And be sure to watch for Page in the class listings at the upcoming shows this spring and get your name on the class roster so you can learn all about all the creative ways she uses 1077 Touching Beads and 1374 Touching Bead Single.
