ONE STEP FURTHER

Taking it one step further ...
I've made a commitment to fit in a weekly photo-walk when planning my calendar. I find much inspiration when I take the time to slow down and be more observant of the little things normally missed in the rush of the day. Built in this exercise is the follow-up sessions ... time to study and process the images. Some remain on the disk drive for months before moving to the next stage depending on my current focus or project at hand.
I like to print the images and add them to my journal with notes as to how it might translate to fabric, what concept category/s it might fit ... texture, color, balance, line, contrast. Then on those day when I'm ready to play and needing direction ... which project will catch my attention today, my journal of ideas and project outlines is right at hand ready to lead me down a path of creativity and fun.
I also love searching for possible matching quotes to keep with the image. When I found this quote by Andrew Wyeth I knew I had a match.
I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape - the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn't show. ~Andrew Wyeth
I love the phrase: the bone structure of the landscape.
