    JOURNAL PEEK: NUMBER 10

    one step at a time

Thoughts from my weekly photo walk.

I am beginning to have several different visual journals organized around different concepts, techniques, and sometimes just STUFF. One of those visual journals is called BY THE NUMBERS. The idea is to find things in nature or life that happen naturally in a given quantity, such as, three peas in a pod.

Completing the pages in sequence isn't necessary. I like discovering the "numbered surprises" where they happen, taking the photo and then telling the story. Sometimes the numbered page is driven by a quote and sometimes it is driven by the story of the actual object. One of the pages in my numberes journal is dealing with the number 66 and the text is my journaling about our cross-country trip on Route 66. It's fun to see how far can I go with filling in the numbers pages.

Choose a topic and start representing it in the medium of your choice. Save your pages in a collection ... a visual journey. And start taking pictures! Slow down and notice the world around you. So many times we walk right by images that might speak to us later. It's just a matter of taking time, slowing down, opening your eyes and observing the little things in our day to day lives. I almost walked right by this stone pathway without a second glance. I love this shot with the one colored stone.

Note to self: always make sure the memory card is in camera, too. :hit-head-with-hammer:
