Wow, finally a day without contractors and electricians. They're all on vacation and I can quilt! Yeah! Look what is on the machine today, Cheryl. You've probably forgotten what your quilt looks like. I should have it off the machine, trimmed up and off in the mail to you soon.

It has been a crazy but fun time the last few days. Mike flew in for his first visit since he went back home to Oregon in January. Three months is a very long time to live on opposite sides of the country. We had a wonderful time catching up with the kids in Boston and heard a great concert with Toby having the opening solo of Mahler 2 on the euphonium with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Dinner was fun afterwards with the kids and grandbabies at Legal Seafoods. Oysters on the half shell ... YUMMMMM!

Mike's mother came too. She polished dust off furniture for me ... the oak icebox looks so much better ... and she polished my silver spoon collection. They look so pretty now. We also had fun visiting our contractor's showroom putting together an order for the next project on the list ... finishing one of the bathrooms upstairs. Actually, we're putting the new custom stuff into our master bath and moving the stock cabinetry upstairs. I decided if anyone was going to have a fancy bath, that would be me! :)

forsythiaSpring has officially arrived in the Berkshires and I've had great fun taking flower photos on my walks to the post office. The only flowering bush I have in my yard so far is a forsythia bush. What a wonderful burst of color after all the snowy white winter. I know I have some lilac bushes because the identifying tags are still on the stems, and I have some day lily foliage starting to peek through the ground by the garage. I also bought three bags of mixed colors of day lilies and am anxiously awaiting all frost danger to disappear so I can get them in the ground. The rest of the yard is my mystery garden this year. Just have to wait and see what comes up. Good thing I'm comfortable with surprises.

I love this quote by Anne Lindburgh about the forsythia:

Forsythia is pure joy. There is not an ounce, not a glimmer of sadness or even knowledge in forsythia. Pure, undiluted, untouched joy!  Anne Lindburgh
