SIMPLE WOMAN DAYBOOKTreating myself to some time for reflection, time to catch up with favorites in the blog world, and time to discover new blogs ... and I found The Simple Woman's Daybook blog site. I am fascinated with the simple approach for journaling and am going to give it a whirl this month. Click on the link if you're interested in joining in on the adventure.

    FOR TODAY: September 5th 2010

Outside my window: the temperatures have dropped and there's such a nice Fall breeze blowing with the clearest of clearn blue skies with random puffy white clouds scattered here and there one could ever imagine.

I am amazed by: the energy of a new puppy. She has two speeds: full speed ahead or at a dead standstill napping in her current favorite soft spot. What a joy to be able to dogsit for Toby while he prepares a space for Miso at her new home.

I am thinking: I need to take some more photos of the garden area to help with the planning of the garden plot for next year.

I am thankful for: quiet time. I miss having a house full of family but I appreciate the quiet days with fewer distractions, too.

New things I’m learning: I'm learning all over again the amount of time involved in training a puppy! My goodness it's been a long long time since there has been a brand new puppy in my life. Baily Bear (our chow chow) nearly 15 years ago was our last puppy. Chows are so easy to house train and they don't chew. Not so with a Sheba Inu!

From the kitchen: I've been searching out recipes for home-made macaroni and cheese and I think I've found one.

I am creating: a blog book. Today I worked on setting up the format for a hard copy journal of my blog posts. I plan on using it as a quick hand's-on reference tool as well as a recording of my ramblings.

I am going: This should read I was going to go to a workshop at the Berkshire Botanical Gardens and learn about identifying invasive plants in the Berkshires but I decided not to go after all. Saving my pennies for ???

I am reading: Graceling by Kristin Cashore - not very far into it yet, only about 30 pages and haven't been captured by the storyline yet enough to have many thoughts. I love it when a book grabs my attention so thoroughly that I can't wait for the next page turn.

I am hoping: for a few more days (even weeks) of good weather and continued harvesting of tomatoes and squash from the garden.

I am hearing: the breezes outside my window blow through my wind chimes.

Around the house: seasonal decorating ... changing from Summer patriotics to Fall colors and "stuff."

One of my favorite things: Watching Miso chew and chase around after one of our moving boxes. Great entertainment for her and for me.

A few plans for the rest of the week: hmmm ... wonder if Miso will need to visit her family in Brookline? I may need to make a trip up to Pittsfield for birdseed; work on a circle quilt (squaring up blocks and sewing rows together) is on the adgenda.
