    A photo thought to share:

and FOR TODAY: September 12th 2010

Outside my window: the flag of our nation waves gently in the wind and sometimes with a snap in a sharp gust. I love being able to fly a flag on my house. I've never been able to do that before where anyone would even be able to see it.

I am amazed by: the never -ending energy of Miso Puppy. I love it when she flattens back her ears tucks in her tail and runs through the house like a crazy woman as fast as she can go from one end to the other.

I am thinking: it is nice to have finished a long-overdue UFO (unfinished quilt project). I put the last stitch in the binding of a quilt that I started nearly 12 years ago. Sweet feeling of accomplishment.

I am thankful for: unlimited minutes on my cell phone so I can talk to family scattered across the nation as much as I want.

New things I’m learning: I learned how to fix the doors upstairs so they closed and stay closed. Mike was a pretty good long-disance handyman talking me through all the different possible solutions over the phone until we finally hit upon the one that worked.

From the kitchen: .I have decided that with a crock pot I would have to cook only one time during the day. I could get everything done in the morning during the breakfast hour and be set for the rest of the day.

I am creating: note cards with my photos and digital art supplies.

I am going: get myself caught up on the bookwork. (grrrrrrr)

I am reading: still reading Graceling each night but my favorite reading material is the latest issues my favorite magazines from Somerset Studio ...  Artful Blogging,  Art Quilting Studio, Art Journaling and Sew Somerset.

I am hoping: it will be easy to figure out a plan for "Miso-izing" our yard ... making a place that is safe for her to play and be outside without having to always be on a leash.

I am hearing: the train whistle in the distance. Mike and I want to visit the Berkshire Railway Museum when he come next time and take a ride on the Scenic Railway that runs between Lenox and Stockbridge.

Around the house: It's getting chillier during the night - beautiful warm clear days, crisp evenings. Had to add another quilt to the bed but am not ready to close up the bedroom window yet. I love breathing the fresh air while I sleep.

One of my favorite things: is getting fresh squash and tomatoes from the garden. The pumpkins are still growing but the I tore up the melon vines on Saturday. Time to gradually begin cleaning up the garden getting it ready for wintering over. I did get my photos taken so I can do planning for next Spring when the cold winter winds howl around the corners of the house.

A few plans for the rest of the week: spending time in the studio with the quilting machine running is on the docket after a quick visit to Boston. Miso Puppy needs to see her family and remember who they are.  SIMPLE WOMAN DAYBOOK

Treating myself to some time for reflection, time to catch up with favorites in the blog world, and time to discover new blogs ... and I found The Simple Woman's Daybook blog site. I am fascinated with the simple approach for journaling and am going to give it a whirl this month. Click on the link if you're interested in joining in on the adventure.
