    DAYBOOK 4

A photo thought to share: I am so proud of you ...

    FOR TODAY: September 26th 2010

Outside my window: the whistle blows, the wheels rumble down the tracks; clang clang goes the crossing bell. It's the weekend Berkshire Sceniec Railway train making another trip. I hope Mike and I can squeeze in an excursion on one of his visits this Fall before they have to close down for the season.

I am amazed by: how quickly the birds empty the feeders of seeds. Must get more bird seed the week sometime.

I am thinking: about this day  ... when our dearest sweet daughter was born. Happy Birthday to you. Wishing you a day filled with happiness and much laughter.

I am thankful for: for friendly people reaching out making me feel welcome and connected.

New things I’m learning: I'm practicing my "being brave" skills again. This skill  will never be mastered but each time gets a little easier the more I practice.

From the kitchen: am loving the fresh from the garden taste of the last of the zuchinni, summer squash, and cherry tomatoes. Dreading the day when I must buy them from the produce section of the grocery again.

I am creating: .pages for my daybook using my digital scrapbooking supplies. I wonder if my daybook should have its own maleskein or if I should put everything in one hard bound journal and just keep adding to the year as I fill them. Hmmmmm ...

I am going: to enjoy the Apple Squeeze festivities while munching on my tasty straight from the apple orchard tree juicy delicious crisp HONEY CRISP apple.

    I am reading: Creative Wildfire

I am hoping: to make progress on my writing projects this week.

I am hearing: flocks of geese in the skies encouraging one another with honking and chatter as they begin their journey south.

Around the house: time to "winterize" the garden; put away the hoses, sprinklers, and tools; dismantle my make-shift tomato cages, and start moving plants inside to winter over until next spring.

One of my favorite things: my inspriation library. I love thumbing through my design books and magazines looking at the photos and gleaning tips, tricks, and challenges here and there.

A few plans for the rest of the week: enjoying time with visiting family for Apple Squeeze weekend and, after they go back home to Brookline, I'm thinking about starting on my paper pieced Block 1 for our quilt guild sampler. I think I will use the technique my friend Marje developed ... Painless Paper Piecing. Her way is so easy, I may have to do more than one block.

Ponderings: Because things are the way they are, things will not stay the way they are.  Bertolt Brecht
     SIMPLE WOMAN DAYBOOK

Treating myself to some time for reflection, time to catch up with favorites in the blog world, and time to discover new blogs ... and I found The Simple Woman's Daybook blog site. I am fascinated with the simple approach for journaling and am going to give it a whirl this month. Click on the link if you're interested in joining in on the adventure.
