    PROCESS

    AJC 1: verb: PROCESS ...

When I received our word prompt for this week I felt pretty stumped so I just let the concept percoluate in the back of my mind and went on with other tasks that needed to be done. I finished my journal cover and my letter to self. But finally, in the end there
was no more putting it off and I began to brainstorm. The funny thing is that I had only one thing listed in my storm ... my thoughts on teaching and the word process.

Process: If you teach a man to fish …
I was think about my quilting classes and how I like to teach a process rather than a project and that made me think about this quote:

"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”

I would much rather teach my quilting and longarm students how to use the tools (software or a new ruler) or the techniques so they can go forward and create their own designs. So much more satisfying than having them simply copy my creations and artwork.

How much stronger in life we can be if we are able to continue to learn new skills to support our interests and needs.

I truly am a committed life-long learner. I hunger to learn new things and can even get to learning things so fast I think my head will explode  if I have learn one more thing. This is how I especially feel when I go on a learning rampage with  a new piece of software.

A rule of thumb I will follow when learning a new technique is to generally copy the piece done by the teacher to begin with, although it doesn’t take me long to branch out taking a twist and a turn here and there and before you know it, the project becomes
    my own.
