HEARTS & VINES

Did you go read the article by Matt Gartland I posted yesterday? I was so taken with this sculpture. Usually I am not that excited about sculptures but this one really spoke to me ... the beauty and the passion ... the emotions it evokes. Chalk it up to the spirit of the holiday.
I'm also participating in the CREATIVE EVERY DAY challenge and our theme for the month of February is passion. I was a little stumped in the beginning thinking about how I wanted to respond to the challenge but I think this piece fills the bill very nicely.
I decided Matt's message was one I would like to revisit each year and so I designed a page for my junk journal, the place where I keep memorabilia meaningful to me. I also think this paper piece would be great to come back to in the future and rework it in fabric. But that's for another day. LOL In the meantime, I'll give you a little peak at the full double page spread.
Can't you just visualize all kinds of embellishing with beads and lace in the center between the stark constrast of the black and white with tulle artfully draped over a print of the image softening up the view! Ahhhhh ... sigh ... some day ...

What I do have in the quilting world for you today is new designs going up in the store. Remember me talking about all the heart themed designwork I'd been playing with. They've been tested and polished up, and now they're ready for their public debut.
And as a special treat, just for you loyal readers out there in blogland, I've decided to offer a special introductory discounted price. But you'll not want to wait around too long to take advantage for these special prices will be good only for one week from the date uploaded in the store.
This morning's new patterns are edge-to-edge. We can never have too many of those in our pattern library. They look very much the same but I did some tweaking with the second variation just to make it a little easier for you when setting up the quilt on the machine. Now you don't have to do quite so much "dinking" around to get a pattern that offers a little more visual interest.
First: 1457 HEARTS & VINES E2E ... the simple version ....

Second 1458 HEARTS & VINES FLIPPED E2E ... the "dinking" is done for you ...

Hi there! Visiting from CED. I love that sculpture in the Louvre, I have a picture of it on my blog too: http://www.kateyeview.com/2010/01/capturing-light.html. It's one of the pieces that helped me to enjoy and understand sculpture as an art form. I'll have to share your blog with my quilting friends! Keep creating every day! :)by Kat on 21 February 2011 at 12:37 p.m.
