     quilting arts tips

I thought I might take today to share some of the great tips I've stumbled upon while out in the cyber quilting world lately. After all, that's part of the legacy and heritage of being in this wonderful community called "quilters." Sharing the latest tip; sharing a new trick ; sharing news about a new gadget or tool; sharing what you know with the person next to you that might help make their quilting journey run a little more efficiently, a little more smoothly, while enhancing the creative process along the way.

So, take minute to check the out:

    • Metallic Threads: I don't know about you but i certainly do have a love-hate relationship with the thread demons hiding in the fibers of these spools. But recently I came across some great simple tips to help tame these monsters. I so love the sparkle and bling they can add to my quilting projects. Visit Pokey's Blog to read more.

    • Art Quilting: Are you an art quilter wanna-be? I've come to the conclusion that the best way to start is to just dive in to the deep end and go for it. Seems there are no rules ... you can't really do it wrong. But there are some little tricks to help guide you along the way and to help facilitate your journey to a more polished looking finished project. My 10 Favorite Art Quilting Tips is a great place to start.

    • Crative Vision: Are you stalled? Do you feel your art endeavors are stuck in a rut? Feel like you're going nowhere with your projects? Have you lost your "muchness?" Consider keeping a sketchbook to jot down ideas and inspiration you find along the way during your day-to-day routines. Watch for meaningful quotes, imaginative design lines, striking color combinations. Use the camera on your phone to capture an image, then print it out and add it to a page in your sketch journal. Then when you find yourself stuttering and procrastinating the beginning of a new project, just open your sketchbook to an idea that gets those creative juices flowing again. Need some ideas as to how to make the journaling process even more fun? Jean Littlejohn has some great ideas for creating a journal or sketchbook using recycled or repurposed items in her article Boost Your Creative Vision Through Sketchbooks.
