THRIVE VS SURVIVE
Posted by mountaintopquilting on Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

It's almost time to jump on the plane and head down to Geogia for our Southeast Statler Retreat. I'm so excited to be going and mingling with all the great people who will be there. So much to learn from each other. I love going to retreats and conferences spending time with people, getting inspired, and learning to see things in a way I'd never thought of before.
It sounds silly, but when I go to the symphony I'm always amazed at the dynamic of hearing a live performance. I listen to the pieces on my ipod and through the big surround sound speakers in the house all the time, but it is never the same. A recording can never capture the energy and essence - the very soul - of a live performance. The same is true of the quilting world.
The internet has made it possible for us to touch each others lives, to share ideas, and to inspire one another in ways we never imagined possible just a few short years ago. But you know, it is never the same as actually attending a retreat, a conference, or a quilt show and "seeing it live." Don't miss out on the opportunity to be a live member of the quilting world when the next gathering presents itself. Don't limit yourself to living and creating in a virtual world. There is so much more to be gained by actually "rubbing elbows" with people who share the same interests and passions as you.
One of the classes I will be teaching (really it is structured more as an open-forum discussion in which I will serve as facilitator) is called THRIVE VS SURVIVE. Some of the questions and thoughts to be presented to the group:
-
what does it mean to THRIVE IN YOUR STUDIO
-
defining THRIVE: synonyms and antonyms
-
how to recapture your "muchness"
-
dream big with baby steps
-
burnout
-
harnessing and blending the power - right brain passion and left brain routine
-
defining decisions, making choices, breaking out of boxes
In short, let's talk about how to develop some strategies for success in moving beyond survival mode in your business, how to grow your businesss into a thriving business that allows you to make the music of your soul. Hope to see you in Geogia in a couple of days. Until then ...
... be brave ... be bold ...
Make and share the music of your soul.
