It's hard to believe that just two weeks ago we had 24" of snow on the ground and still had leaves on the trees. The neighborhood kids were building snow jack-o-lanterns rather than snowmen. How funny to see the leaves come down on snow drifts. I wonder what is the determining factor to make leaves finally let go and flutter to the ground.
As we were driving into Boston yesterday I noticed the trees along the south side of the Pike were nearly leaf-less and many of the trees on the north side were still fully leafed; color was vibrant and full of every shade of autumn you could possibly imagine.
